Hyra IP was founded by Clifford D. Hyra, a registered patent attorney with extensive experience in the intellectual property field. Clifford handles all client matters personally, with the assistance of his associates and Hyra IP’s administrative staff and specialized technical assistants.

About Clifford D. Hyra
Clifford D. Hyra is the founder and managing member of Hyra IP, PLC and the author of the intellectual property law blog Patents 101.
Clifford is a registered patent attorney with extensive experience in the field of intellectual property. He has a background in aerospace engineering and graduated magna cum laude from the George Mason University School of Law. Clifford spent several years managing a heavy patent and trademark docket at an IP boutique firm in Tyson’s Corner, Virginia, before moving on to found Hyra IP, PLC. He is licensed to practice law in Virginia and the District of Columbia and to represent clients located anywhere in the world before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Clifford specializes in patent and trademark prosecution and has prosecuted hundreds of patent and trademark applications over the course of his career. He also has considerable experience negotiating the settlement of patent and trademark disputes, conducting trademark cancellation and opposition proceedings, carrying out appeals to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, registering copyrights, drafting contracts for the transfer of copyrights, resolving domain name disputes, drafting patent opinions, conducting patent and trademark searches, and more.
Clifford’s clients run the gamut from individual entrepreneurs to medium-sized entities with 100+ employees. His clients include many small businesses in the local Reston/Fairfax County/Northern Virginia area as well as businesses large and small all across the country and overseas.
